WHO IS MARKETS ONTARIO?

Markets Ontario is a boutique multi-vendor marketplace, bringing the best of Ontario's handmade products together in one convenient location. Markets features high-quality, artisanal home goods, food, clothing, and more from 150+ local vendors.

Following the successful opening of the Brooklin store in 2019, Markets went on to open the Bowmanville store in the summer of 2020 and kicked off their third location inside the Pickering Town Centre (PTC) just before the holidays in 2020. With the highs and lows that came with operating three locations throughout a pandemic, the difficult decision was made to close the Brooklin store in early 2022. In order to focus on the continued growth and success of the Bowmanville location, the decision to also close the Pickering Town Centre (PTC) location was made in the fall of 2022.

Markets Bowmanville makes it easy and convenient to support local entrepreneurs and further strengthens the economic recovery of the region, with 100% of product sales going into the pocket of the artisan. Since 2019, vendors selling with Markets have collectively made more than $4.5 million.

HOW DOES MARKETS ONTARIO WORK?
Markets uses a store-within-a-store concept and operates on a consignment basis where vendors keep 100% of their sales. Because of this we do not charge customers tax, and instead charge a 13% administration fee on each transaction, which helps Markets pay for things like housekeeping, supplies and the hiring of trained sales associates. This administration fee also helps to keep the cost of rent down for vendors.

This fee makes it possible for Markets to operate the way it does and allows us to offer you great customer service, an enjoyable shopping atmosphere and exciting events.
